Our Story

Sharon's Heat Buddys was founded by Sharon Mark after she was eager to relieve some pain. Heat Buddy's have been around for a while, however. She got the special trick from her great Aunt. When she needed a new Heat Buddy, my mom hit the fabric store, got some fabric that was fun, rather than bland. However, we decided instead of using the traditional rice - we'd use field corn as it retains the tempature (whether hold or cold) longer than rice or flax seed (which is seen in the more organic environments). Combined with Sharon's passionate desire to help people reduce their pain symptoms, her daugther, Ali Mark manages the website, helps pick "up and coming" fabrics, and helps to book shows!

So, why a Heat Buddy instead of traditional heating pads or ice packs?

  • You don't have to worry about electrical fires, burns, or burn-outs from an electric heating pad, which often cost approximately $25 ($14 more than ours).

  • You can mointor the temperature of the heat to prevent burns - which is especially important with children who have grown to love them.

  • Ice packs can cause cold blisters, they "sweat" after losing their freezing temperature, and their durability is limited by potential popping or breaking from wear and tear.

  • Traditional ice packs (despite enhancements, they're often hard or firm and not easily bendable to mold to a specific area of your body) cost approximately $15 ($6 more than ours).

Heat Buddy's are a safer, cleaner, less expensive alternate that last longer, are easy to transport, and are more fun than those bland blue, black, or white heating pads and ice packs.

Compareable products on etsy, ebay, or even google cost approximately $17 - still $5 more expensive than ours... and don't forget with those shipping and handling fees these usually send, you're spending about $25 for a single Heat Buddy. For that price, you can get 2 from us!
